Working on a couple 98 patterns to have ready but have a question about the bottoms. I want to have a couple 98 sporter patterns laying around. As to the top leaving them set up for a basic 98 2 or 3 position would allow them to be altered for a slide safety. All basic 98s should fit. However the bottom metal is another issue. I only have a MKX and FN bottoms handy. The FN bottom is about 1/8" longer where it is flush with the wood. As to those two if I build the pattern for a MKX then the FN would simply need a little wood removed. I would "ASSUME" that a military base would work with wood removal. What about something like the 1909? I can't afford to have patterns for each bottom. What are your thoughts? As usual just my $.02 Paul K

I've replaced a half dozen or so "standard" military trigger guards with the '09 Argentine part. The '09s were always slightly longer in the front, maybe a 1/16" or so.

By "standard" did you mean the old locking or non-locking? As usual just my $.02 Paul K

by locking I was talking about the old military where they had notches on the action screw heads with a small screw front and back to lock the action screws in place. I have no clue which of the military actions had the locking screws any of the commerical I've seen have not. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Got it. All the ones I've swapped out were the locking screw types. I could be wrong, but I think all the military 98 trigger guards were 4 holers (?).
