ramrod34098 stock pattern help
Working on a couple 98 patterns to have ready but have a question about the bottoms.
I want to have a couple 98 sporter patterns laying around. As to the top leaving them set up for a basic 98 2 or 3 position would allow them to be altered for a slide safety. All basic 98s should fit.
However the bottom metal is another issue. I only have a MKX and FN bottoms handy. The FN bottom is about 1/8" longer where it is flush with the wood. As to those two if I build the pattern for a MKX then the FN would simply need a little wood removed. I would "ASSUME" that a military base would work with wood removal. What about something like the 1909?
I can't afford to have patterns for each bottom. What are your thoughts?

craigsterI've replaced a half dozen or so "standard" military trigger guards with the '09 Argentine part. The '09s were always slightly longer in the front, maybe a 1/16" or so.

By "standard" did you mean the old locking or non-locking?

by locking I was talking about the old military where they had notches on the action screw heads with a small screw front and back to lock the action screws in place.
I have no clue which of the military actions had the locking screws any of the commerical I've seen have not.

craigsterGot it. All the ones I've swapped out were the locking screw types. I could be wrong, but I think all the military 98 trigger guards were 4 holers (?).
