OK I ordered a M70 SA featherweight stock to use as a pattern. Included with the stock was a little box containing a "plastic spacer" for I assume the bottom of the mag box. This for different bottom metal? I "assume" that if I install that spacer in my pattern then if someone wants a copy they could simply remove the extra wood. Or should I leave it out of the pattern?
Not being a M70 shooter this one has this old man

If you machine a stock without that spacer in place, it won't fit the older M70s with the two piece bottom, which are the most common. I guess you can offer both variations.

Need to look at how it could be made to work without the bottom metal holding it in place. I guess if you install the spacer than cut the wood the resulting stock could still be used for a one piece it would just require extra fitting.

COuld you maybe install it using a rubber type cement, put the magazine box in there until it sets up, and then ease out the box? It might hold enough to run a pattern. Then you could take the spacer out later? Dunno..just guessing
