I have a barrel only 18 1/4" long that needs to be blued. No polishing necessary.....just turn it blue-black.

Oxpho blue won't touch it so I'm assuming it's stainless.

No rush either.....add it to your next bluing jobs.

Please respond VIA PM

Bluing stainless take a special salts and it's own bluing tank.

do it the way the companies did
electroplate it with either iron or copper and then hand blue it .

setting up a tank should cost you meh, 20 bucks .. you likely have a charger with trickle charge anyway -- DO plug the barrel --

opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club

Here is a quote from Blacknitride.

cost is $250.00 and lead time is 7-10 business days for Blacknitride. We cannot do the black oxide or Bluing on the stainless so that would be your only option with us.

Still no reply from the folks in New Berlin (Milwaukee)

If the purpose of stainless steel is to prevent rusting, is not overlaying that metal with another that will rust counter-productive? Why even have a stainless barrel to begin?
I do agree they are not attractive and reflect too much.

So who did you decide to go with?

Many years ago I had Heatbath Corp. of Ohio "blue" a Hart SS barrel and was very satisfied with their results, delivery time and price. I don't know if they still perform this service but another possibility for you. Good luck, Ed

I received the barrel back from Denny Powell yesterday......it was likely in my mail box for a week but I was on Lake Superior fishing that long.

The barrel is spectacular......a light matt effect but a dark deep blue-black finish. I couldn't have asked for a better result.

The price was well under a "C" note including return shipping and turnaround time was also excellent.

I find it easy to recommend him.

Send him a text at 575-937-4665 and introduce yourself.....he responds to communications quite well indeed.
