Guys, Anyone know for sure whether the Core-Lite stocks made for M98 standard actions fit the Zastavas? Are they a "drop-in" or require modification? Cheers... Con

It's a drop in but it takes a ton and a half of "glass" to fill them in. IIRC I had to cut my own bolt handle slot but that's no hill for a climber. I wouldn't go with core lite again.....the shape is awkward and bulky. They do work OK in the end however. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Con, there's pros and (heck) cons of drop in stocks for mausers. Since the mausers have such a variation, when compared to commerical guns, they have to be overly large (like vapodog says) to fit all actions. They will drop in, and they just MIGHT require a little final inletting, truth be known. should be close, and since you'll want to bed it (ibid) for both fit and accuracy, it shouldn't be a big deal to finish jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? The Hogue stocks will drop right on a Zavasta barrelled action, looks like it was designed for both the flooplate and barrel contour - just need to cut a little for the side safety.

Thanks guys, The "drop in" statement was more to see whether a tonne of work or minor tweaking is required. seems like its an option if I cant find a Butler Creek. I've used a Butler Creek before on a 458WM Zastava and it was great! Cheers... Con

They can be extensively reshaped to make them a significantly trimmer stock if you wish. 15 minutes with a Nicholson #50--trim the forend, reshape the tang area (helps if you reshape the action tang also, slim the grip. What "checkering" was there will be gone but I followed with a texture and paint and it actually looks pretty nice. $50 plus some work, not bad. Jay Kolbe
