I am looking at buying a barrel to be built for a 280. What is the best twist for the 280? I saw that douglas makes a 7mm 1 in 10 twist. I am mainly going to be shooting 140's. 1-10" will do that nicely....the trouble with the .280 Remington is that some day you'll be taking it elk hunting or even plains game hunting....and you'll want to shoot the 175 grain bullets and then you'll wish you went to 1-9".......and the 1-9" twist will shoot the 140s just fine too! 1-9" gets my vote on this one. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Mine is a 30 year old McGowan. I was thinking it was a 1-9.25 or 9.5. I can't find my record. Between a 1-10 and 1-9 I opt for the 1-9. Like vapodog says it will handle the lighter bullets fine. I've used 115-175s in mine with no trouble. As usual just my $.02 Paul K | |||
