trouthunterdj7mm twist??
I am looking at buying a barrel to be built for a 280.
What is the best twist for the 280?
I saw that douglas makes a 7mm 1 in 10 twist.
I am mainly going to be shooting 140's.
Thanks for your opinion

1-10" will do that nicely....the trouble with the .280 Remington is that some day you'll be taking it elk hunting or even plains game hunting....and you'll want to shoot the 175 grain bullets and then you'll wish you went to 1-9".......and the 1-9" twist will shoot the 140s just fine too!
1-9" gets my vote on this one.

Mine is a 30 year old McGowan. I was thinking it was a 1-9.25 or 9.5. I can't find my record. Between a 1-10 and 1-9 I opt for the 1-9. Like vapodog says it will handle the lighter bullets fine. I've used 115-175s in mine with no trouble.
