ramrod340How much neck clearance??
Well I got the barrel for my 400PDK this weekend. When I necked up brass to hold the 411 bullet the case neck measures .432". I have located a rental neck throater for a 411. They say the reamer cuts a .435" neck. Is .003" enough clearance? If not how much? Neck reamers I've purchased I just asked for std clearance.

jeffeosso.003 is close, Paul... that's not match, but manson does .004 or so..i would check my rounds for awhile, as you might get a thick case every now and then

Thanks Jeff. I had been thinking more like .005 as closer to std. I think I'll go ahead watch the brass and if need be a light pass with a neck turner.

Juggernaut76For my tight-necked guns, I turn my brass for 0.002" clearance. But then, I am eliminating the possibility of a thick neck.

mho.002" is about the minimal clearance you need. With no-turn necks, .003" would make it a semi tight neck. For a hunting gun, this is probably on the lower side of what you want for reliability. Possible, but perhaps not ideal. .004-.005 would probably be more sensible.
