Anyone else out there building a new rifle this winter or even giving an older rifle a major face lift? I have always liked the older Tikka rifles. The model 55 and 65 and the ones that were sold by Ithaca as the LSA 55 & LSA 65. They have a smooth action ,pretty good trigger and one of the better detachable clip magazines. I have always wished they had made the M55 (short action) in a 358 Win. I managed to find an action last fall and have since ordered a new barrel from Harry McGowen in 358 win. I have found a couple of stock makers that can supply a stock if I can't find an original Tikka stock. I very much like the palm swell that Tikka had on their old stocks. It just plain fits my hand. I am planning on topping it off with a Bausch & Lomb 2-7 scope. If anyone out there knows the whereabouts of an original Tikka 55 stock,I would love to hear from you. What is everyone else building to help pass the time this winter ??

I am. I've got over a dozen new rifles in various stages of completion. No Tikka's though. I've got a bunch more in here for face lifts. A whole lot needing a little tweaking. A bunch getting threaded for muzzles. Going to be busy this year. I can feel it. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. Jeffeosso You are correct When you say Harry doesn't make the barrels anymore. He does still thread them and chamber them.I would also agree they make excellent barrels.I send Harry the action dimensions and he threads and chambers the barrel.I have been very pleased with his accuracy and his finish. The 358 barrel that came through my door last week was no exception.
