I have a short-chambered barrel in 25-06 that I had planned to put on a Mauser action. I'm now thinking I would rather have a 257 WBY mag. Is it possible to change from a 25-06 chamber to a 257 WBY and how difficult is it? US Navy RETIRED NRA LIFE MEMBER

A lot of these kind of questions can be answered here: Cartridge dimensions

Other than needing to convert the bolt face you might have an issue with the 257Wby having a .285 neck OD and the 25-06 has .290. Besides if the barrel is not at least 26" I wouldn't bother. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Sure. It should be a fairly simple transition. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend, it is my life.

Yep Should be that and alter the bolt face. You might be able to see a ring on the 257 neck caused by the 06 necking be larger. Total difference is about a sheet of copy paper. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
