I have a p-17 (made by Winchester). I need to know if the barrel threads are the same as the model 70 CRF. I am trying to find out if a Model 70 barrel will fit the Enfield. Thank you. ****************************** There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor polite, nor popular -- but one must ask, "Is it right?" nope.. won't fit.. enfield is acme thread, wincheser is v thread, shanks are totally different size... a smith could cut down and enfield, as it has a HUGE shank, to a muser/win/whatever opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Are Acme threads what the "big fat ,flat threads are"? Is a Remington Model 30 and 720 both the "big flat threads" Too?

Yes. The model 30 is really an enfield vavient, I don't know about the 720. ACME threads are designed to be used for translating rotory movement to linear movement, which is not what you want when threading a barrel to an action. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

I kinda thought ACME threads were what Wile used on the rifle he tried to shoot Buggs with. Shawn Have you cycled your PF upside down lately????? God Bless http://www.davidchristmangunmaker.com/ http://i257.photobucket.com/al...wnhound/f66262d4.jpg

correct,...Acme threads are a 29 degree included flank angle(14.5 degrees per side), a square thread is ...well...square. I am going to say that the Model 30 and the 720 are both the standard "Enfield" thread, both are Enfield variants,.....had a Model 30-S Sporter one time....it's on my list of "guns I've owned and wish I'd kept".....long list .....
