I have a soldier I am trying to help put together his "dream battery". The problem is that he is left handed. This shouldnt be a problem excelt that he wants a 22/250 built on a M70 short action. Apparently Winchester never offered a short action in non WSM chamberings outside the custom shop. Someone on another forum suggested a MRC action. Has anyone ever tried dropping a MRC action into a M70 stock? Did it fit???? I think I read somewhere the only difference is the front ring on the Montana is slightly longer than a M70. Other than that they are the same. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

in the same length action, yes, there's wood to remove to make the MRC fit, which is good news opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? i have done one into a model 70 lh stock. it can be done and if you are real careful you won't end up with any gaps at the action. the front receiver ring was a little larger and the whole bottom metal is a little larger and a bit thicker. i think your biggest problem will be finding a sa left handed stock. i sent a pattern stock i had to jim kobe that i was done with. he used it and he may still have it.

I still have that pattern stock. I have modified it a bit. Let me know if you need it. Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Actually finding the stock was the easy part. There was a seller on Ebay who had several unfinished left hand stocks from the Winchester Custom Shop. We got 3 ready to finish stocks with amazing wood for less than $200. The right hand stocks went for 3x or more. Now we just need to find him the right barreled action.
