1. Gentry - It sounds like they all, or almost all require extensive fitting, even to the tune of milling off the ass end of the receiver.

2. Dakota - It sounds like some of them require minor fitting.

3. NECG - They cost more. Does anyone have any experience with these? If they fit well in general, the extra cost might be offset by saving shop time for the fitting. I'll pass on the "extra" lever lock; it sounds like an OSHA mandated device.

4. Ed Lapour - He has a model 98 safety listed on his web site. Has anyone used one of those? Whatcha think?

Thanks for the input.

I currently have two Lapour's on 1903 Springfields and one on a Ruger 77. I also have had one on a Mauser and a Remington 700 in the past.

I would rate them as good as the best and better than the rest. Wink

BULLSHIT.....some of them don't begin to fit and you can't make them fit.

The ones that you do manage to fit work spectacularly.

If the safety fits you must mill (with a 1/8" diam carbide endmill) an slot in the rear of the bolt and mill an angle on the cocking piece. and IIRC one other alteration.

The directions are good...follow them and all is well. But so far I've only got one to fit.....

It takes about three hours to install one if it fits........if you gotta screw with it it can take tripple that......if you ever get it to fit at all.
