Who makes the best? I am looking for a 9.3x62 barrel for a M98.

How about this - affordable (under $250) and accurate (MOA). Am I asking for too much here? I honestly don't know. I have a gun coming in sometime this week which is going to be rebarreled and etc, etc, etc. I am just trying to find components that won't break the bank, but that work.

I am also thinking of going with a Boyds trigger. Any experience with these?

A lot of the blanks are close to that price range, but they are blanks. Midway had them for $290 from Kreiger and $140 from Douglas. If you go to IT&D web site, you can get the whole thing done very reasonably, including the barrel.

Douglas has them for around $285.00 for short chambered, threaded and cut to lenght.

I have Boyds triggers on at least 2 M98s. They work fine and adjust well. Only issue I've had with them is the safety lever sticks out to far. I've ended up reforming and shortening mine.

You are asking for MOA or better hunting accuracy from a 9.3X62. In a hunting rifle I have never had a Douglas or any of the other normal names fail.

Thanks for the patience guys. I am just ignorant where aftermarket parts are concerned and am trying to get an education with this Mauser project. If the 9.3 goes well, a 30-06 will be next.

My borescope says Lilja makes the best barrels but my targets don't always tell me the same thing. I think you'll be satisfied with any of the suggestions so far within the price range you indicated. I usually buy Douglas but Shilen and Walther work just as well for me.

Krieger makes 9.3 caliber barrels and that is what I've got on my M98.

That is a "Hoser" barrel on my BS cannon.

The earth is always getting warmer or colder, and I want to make money whenever it is getting warmer.

So with magnum loads of BS, I take aim at the microphones and bagged my limit of susceptible minds.

Called Lothar Walther. $350 for a 22 inch sporter weight barrel, becuase it is a "custom" job. 23.6 inch barrel is only $219. Am I missing something here? I figured since they were getting to keep 1.6 inches of barrel material it should be cheaper? I guess I need to call a smith and see what they would charge me to lop off that extra 1.6 and recrown.
