Has anybody done business with Elk Ridge? I rented a reamer on-line, got an email order confirmation, and about the time I was expecting the reamer to show up, I got a phone call asking for an additional $20. How can you not honor your order on a rental, providing you own the reamer you advertise. You can't raise your prices after the fact and expect your internet customers to under stand. The price increase would have priced them out of the market. Everybody's out there with the same thing. Now, instead of finishing my job, i'm waiting for word on whether they will honor their order confirmation. Then, I'll have to order a reamer from somebody else. I'm PO'd. This will cost me atleast a week. If I miss Knob Creek because of this guy he'll never hear the end of it.

I've used them in the past with very good results but they're rather expensive, with extra charges for insurance etc. I've found it's usually less expensive for me to actually buy a Pacific reamer and then sell it after the job. For instance they wanted waaayyy over $100 for me to rent a 41 Mag cylinder reamer for all 6 chambers, so I bought a new Kiff reamer, did 12 chambers (2 cylinders) and then sold it for a net cost to me of ~$40 including ebay and shipping. Same thing with a 219 Zipper reamer, final cost $35 instead of $65 and I did 2 chambers, didn't hafta worry about any rush return either.
Regards, Joe

The reamer I needed was .50 BMG. The story he called me with was so lame it was laughable: "They don't rent the 50 BMG very often, .50s are illegal most places, its made out of cobalt so its more expensive, there's lost of metal in a .50 reamer, they're way bigger." I don't care, they should have thought of that when they priced it in their on-line cataloge, not call me about when the reamer is due in and try to extort more money. P.S. Is this guy for real? >50s aren't illegal most places.

he's an idiot .. the 50 bmg is outlawed in couple states, but not even 10%

based off percents, a 223 reamer looses more metal when cutting a chamber than a 223

FACT is that they didn't have it on hand and screwed up

Just call Dave and buy the roughing and finish reamer---then you will have both to make the dies as well. Sell them when you are finished---never know what condition a used reamer will be in. I have quite a few in storage for the next time but most of my rifles are wildcats and my Smith specs out the drawing that Dave uses to grind them.

A few years back I tried to buy a 416 Taylor reamer from Shawine at Elk ridge. She quickly charged my Visa and never sent me the reamer Mad

I have bought things from people in US before (and after) without any problems and wasn´t carefull enough to ensure that Shawine wouldnt rip me of.............

Lesson learned! I take every chanse to warn people to do any buissnies with Elk ridge!

Where they jack the prices up are:
Insurance 5-10.00
Return shipping box and ins. 5.00. I have rented from Shawnee over the years but try to get my own as it`s YOURS and you can take your time although they have been real good to me when I had emergency surgery a few years ago and kept the reamer for a couple of weeks. Communication has never been a real problem but they are NOT machinists but don`rt pretend to be.
Aloha, Mark

You might be able to have the credit card charge reversed.

Shawnee told me that she shipped the reamer and stopped answering my e-mails when I tried to get things right and track down the reamer or my money.......

I've also had very good reamers and good service from PTG/Dave Kiff.
