Scota4570AR-15 float tube spanner
I have an AR match rifle with a float tube that requires a spanner with a round peg. The float tube nut and jam nut are simply a smooth tubes with a hole in it to catch the spanner. I am not finding a spanner like this. I see there are automotive spanners that may work. I could make a spanner but would prefer not to. They are out of stock where I have looked. Where can I get one?

jeffeossohave you tried a belt spanner? a custom spanner should be easy enough to make from some scrap and machine bolts

dpcdRight; you don't even need any tools; just a nylon strap and a 1x2 piece of wood. Or even a rope.

Scota4570You need to re index the float tube with the new upper. I found the correct wrench at Grainger industrial.
The HF wrench is for the nuts that use axial pins. I have a nice one of those already.

airgun1AR float tubes vary a lot. Also many are installed with Red Loctite. Red Loctite requires heat for removal. A strap wrench may or may not work depending on the design of the tube and/or barrel nut. You need to determine the manufacturer and model of the float tube and go from there. Pics here would help as well.

Scota4570The job is done. I posted a link to a picture in the OP. A strap wrench would not have worked because the handguard needs to be indexed.
