Hello and good afternoon,

It’s getting close to that time of the year again, time for the 6th annual Shilen Swap Meet. We hope that you will not only attend but also post the enclosed flyer in a visible location and help to pass the word to interested people. ANYONE can set up a table or just back their truck up and drop their tailgate. There are NO fees or costs and we will persevere rain or shine! There will be gun stuff everywhere, buy and sell as much as you like. There will be complementary chili, frito pie and drinks. Don’t miss out.

“Swap Meet Barrels” will be BACK. These are barrels that we have from customers who ordered a certain contour, or caliber and then change their mind and wanted a larger contour, different caliber, or something else. In the name of customer service we have let the customer change their order and then place the barrel back in stock. If we have another order that matches it, then we use it to fill the order and move on. But per customer requests now, at swap meet time what is left is offered at discounted prices!! All warranties still apply; these are NOT of lower quality or factory seconds.

Factory Tours will be given again this year. During the morning tours, 8:00 am until 11:00 am the drill, ream and rifle machine will run. Tours will continue in the afternoon but no machines will run then.

There will be FREE sign up for drawings to be held at 9am, 9:30am, 10am, 10:30am, noon, 12:30pm, 1pm and 1:30pm.

So here is the important information:

Dr. Tim usually shows up with his weed eater powdered blender. Ed Shilen usually gives a little seminar and answers question. We usually see Les Brooks, Hog Killer, and Jeffeoso. David Christman will be there. The real deal is the barrels and the folks that are there to visit with.

Well nothing like being DAYS LATE !!!. I obviously missed this posting all together .

Is there a specific section within this forum where Upcoming events are or could be posted ?

As of April I'm officially retired for the "LAST TIME ",an I for one would enjoy getting around too different states and checking out such events as butchlambert had posted .

If we don't have a section lets make it happen .

I went along with a friend. Sold a little bit of stuff and spent a lot on barrels. We stayed Friday night at the Quality Inn, same couple has ran it for 23 years, nice people, good breakfast. We ate supper at the Mexicano Grill per Jennifer Hull's recomendation. Best Mexican food I've had in a long time.

It was pretty cool but all of us with wares to display set up inside. The Shilens and the Hulls were really nice folks as usual. A good time was had by all.

Freddy,
I'm sorry I missed it. I started this shindig a few years ago with Wade and Jennifer Hull. Mikel Shilen, Ed's daughter, has done a great deal to make it successful.
My Mother has been in hospice and passed away at 7pm. She was ready, but we weren't.

Sorry about your mom's passing. Tim Beasley and I made it to the Shilen's shop and hung out for a few hours. Tad Emert was there also so we spent some time discussing the upcoming nbrsa matches we are hosting. Alot of fun machinery to look at. Frank Vance shared his knowledge of the machines with us, he has been repairing the machines there for many years it seems.
Take care

Sorry to hear about your mom. Bill Hull was telling me about her being seriously ill. I lost my mom a year and a half ago. It leaves a big void in your life.

The Hulls and Shilens worked their tails off to show everyone a good time as usual. I did not see Ed Shilen there. Butch, wasnt he teaching himself to play piano?

Mike, wish I could have met Frank Vance as I am an incurable tool and machinery enthusiast.

Ed has been doing the piano, races a vintage Formula Ford, Flies an airplane, flies a powered glider, is the only builder of Champion spark plugs for model airplane engines, and manufactures the DGA model airplane motors. He just got back into 22 rimfire BR competition. I have been very lucky to have spent time with him. Plan on spending more time with him. Frank Vance is a character! A couple years ago after not seeing Frank for a while, I saw him at Shilens. Frank got down on the floor and twisted and turned on his butt on the floor. Jumped up and grabbed a metal shop stool and polished the seat. He told me to sit and said how glad he was to see me. Blew my mind and I knew Frank. Frank is a very good CNC repairman and machine tool person. He is an independent repair person.
