Just got 4 copies of Jim Wisner's extended floorplate for the CZ550 and a straddle floorplate for 09 Argentine. $65 per copy, available at www.wisnersinc.com. He was out for awhile and several AR posters were interested:

So are these for the 550 or 550 Magnum? Are they suppose to be deeper, like a semi-pregnant floorplate (increased mag capacity)? The factory plate is a straddle plate already.

Thanks.

For the magnum size, enables an additional round to be chambered off the top.

Forrest,
thanks for posting these!!

Will,
I'll get with Forrest in a couple weeks and bring a bottom metal and some 550 expresse cases.. the "stock" vz 24 would allow 2, with the bolt closed, down on the express. this might allow 3, we'll see, in a "semi" staggered mag, allowing the rails/round to "feed from center".

the first 550 express is off being blued this week, btw

The pictures that fla3006 posted shows the 1909 straddle floorplate on top.
The 1909 does not have a pocket.

The Pocket floorplate for the CZ550 will fit the 375 H&H's, and the 416 Rigby.
I also just put one on a ZKK 602 in 375 H&H

It has a .150 deep pocket that allows the follower and spring to set down inside, thus creating a deeper magazine well.

They are as machined. Final fitting of the hinge and drilling the 3mm cross pin is required. As well as final polishing.

Jim,

Would this give me 6 down in my ZKK602 in .458 Win Mag?

It holds 5 down now but the 6th jams everything up and it will not feed.

It would be nice to have 6 down, +1 in the chamber.

Why Les? Not trying to be smart, just wanting to know.

Butch,

I really have no "good" reason, just because I can?

I've always been fond of "more is better" - 3 in a bolt rifle is better than two in a double, 14 in a double stack 1911 is better than 8, etc.

I've got to carry the ammo with me anyway so it might as well be in the rifle.

The only real question I have is over reshaping / tapering the extractor "claw" to close over the 7th cartridge more easily when it's loaded as a push feed - or is that just being greedy?

Jim,

I tried this on my own a year or so ago for the regular 550 by trying to silver solder two floorplates together. What a disaster. I haven't given up though and am asking a smith with the proper equipment, and skill, to try it again for me.
