OK Guys,

How do you protect your bores while rust bluing ... or do you bother?

Thanks!

At first I was using clear lacquer, then wooden plugs, now I don't bother.

I use plugs in shotgun barrels. The key is cleaning them and not leaving any oil.

I used to use lacquer to coat the bore then clean it out with acetone

Now I don't bother. After the boil, the water evaporates in about a nano-second so there's no problem there.

After each carding, I run a clean patch through the bore to remove crud(using a degreased rod, of course).

Same here.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.
