I've used them a couple of times. I've had good luck, others here haven't. You must keep in mind these are rough cut and need a lot of shaping.

This will give you an idea of what is under all that wood.

I bought a rough inletted blank from them and it was very nice. Others have complained that their inletting leaves something to be desired.

GAG has built their own reputation Smiler ... it seems if you buy a higher dollar stock from them, that the inletting is better.. by higher dollar, I mean $300+... i've used several, and only had a truely bad experience once... and that was a horrible one... inletting was 3/16" OFF, from top tp bottom.... top was cut to oneside, bottom the other, and would have resulted in a huge gape if you could have gotten the stock into the center line.

frequently the inletting is off, but it's not "outside the lines" and can be made to work.

i LIKE their patterns,... let me restate that, there's a good layout UNDER all the extra wood they send you.. forearms are generally like baseball bats, that require a bunch of shaping

Nice Terry.

That's my "style" of wood... enough figure to notice, without being over the top.

I like it. thumb

My one problem with them was that I purchased a semi-inlet that came with a pretty serious flaw and they wouldn't take it back. So, even though they have some nice wood, I would make sure of their return policy before you buy anything from them.

I have purchased two stocks from them, the first one was cracked, that was found after I had worked on it. they replaced it with another better stock, no problems with the second one.
I will use them again for my "96" project.

I have been thinking of doing the same thing - I like their raised panel, teutonic pattern.

What did they screw up?

The stock they returned to me had far far too much wood to take off....I might as well done the entire thing myself!

Since then I've been sending blanks to Dennis Olson and have been delighted with what I get back.....Olson is first class!!! He's the first guy I've found sinbce the old Fajen place was sold to Midway.....and I couldn't get shit from Fajens after the sale.....they refused to machine my wood.....said it was like taking a steak to a restraunt and asking them to cook it!!!....screw em!!!!!

If you buy from them use a credit card. I returned a stock to them & had to get the credit card company to charge them back because they did not have time to issue credit.

They use to be Richards gunstocks out of oregon, then moved down to were i am to be closer to the wood product. Then, blah, blah, blah,it got sold to the outfit now. I think there rough blanks are ruffff. Fajen use to have such nice clean inletting, even in the 95% jobs. There shop is only about 2 miles from me,and i go there from time to time to pick up wood scraps ect. There shop employees can be desired.I have some real wonderful wood, just destroyed and made into firewood due to lack of knowledge in what they are doing. van
