Well I have received my buddies 375 and my 411 barrels cut with my PDK reamer if you haven't seen it imagine a Gibbs(Rocky) with a 40deg shoulder. Due to liability concerns he wouldn't cut my 411 on anything smaller than a #4. After looking at some dummy cases I set up for my buddies 375 I decided I needed to have one again. I was looking at a #2 or #3. The #2 has .6 which would give me the required .125" per side. I was thinking a #3 at .625 at 24" would make a slim line looking 375. I figured set this one up for 235-250 bullets and save my 375H&H for the larger stuff. Thoughts. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

I've got a 375 on a #3 Shilen contour which is light and nicely balanced. Don't know how I'd like a #2.... Jay Kolbe

I have a 700 in 375 that measures a bit over .700" at the muzzle. It's light and slim. I think .625" would make yours nice and light and slim, go for it!

Paul, What cartridge is the 411 barrel going to accept? I have the 400 Whelen improved (40 degree shoulder)...it is my most versatile cartridge. (I should be shooting whitetails with it right now but everything I've seen has been too young to pull the trigger on). Regards, Garrett

My 411 is built on my reamer. Close to a Gibbs or Howell. I take a 280 case move the shoulder forward to 2.17" and .46" dia 40 deg. I normally use the 280 case and set up for 2.54"and 3.38"oal. In the 411 I'm using 06 cylinder brass at 2.65 and cutting the chamber to allow the longer neck. I don't know the capacity yet but in a .416 version @2.54" I measured 82.2grs of water I doubt there will be much net increase. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Paul, Where are you getting your cylindrical brass, and what do you think of the quality of it? Greg

i have a std weight Model 70 barrel re-bored to 9.3, which is 366 groove diameter on a 600 muzzle diameter at 24". It is perfect in my opinion, and would be fine at 375 as well. I'd think it may be on the light side for 9.3x64 or 375 H&H, but perfect for what you are doing

Greg, Since you were asking about cylindrical brass, I'm getting mine from Quality Cartridge. It's very durable...lots of full power loads from mine. However, it is thick, and when I neck it down for my 400 whelen, I have to inside neck ream. Garrett

I bought mine from Z-hat quality appears good. AHR also sells Howell basic a cylinder 06 brass that is 2.6". I have used Howell brass on other things. It is thick and strong but you do give up capacity. Since I don't normally load above 63,000 I don't stress my brass and look to capacity. Since the z-hat brass is elongated 35 Whelen they say you gain some capacity due to thinner walls. Necked down with a 411 bullet in it I mic .432". As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Jeffe, you are probably 100% correct. I have not talked directly to Douglas. I was only going by what IDT told me that they required a .125" per side. Douglas might have other requirement. Then again IDT said they could turn a profile for me. Since I'm leaning towards the #3 not an issue at this time. The # 2 was a total "assumption" on my part. Since I didn't have a go/nogo guage for my reamer IDT wouldn't final headspace. However, when I mounted the barrels the bolt handle would go half way down on both. A couple turns of the reamer and I had a finished chamber. I was please with their work. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
