Hello All, I have a couple of Mexican Mauser actions (1910 and 1936) anyway i was wondering if any of you had ever had any converted to 350 Remington or 416 Howell? If so how were the results and did you have them reheated? Also anyone make one into 450 marlin? BB

350 rem sounds like a nice one, or maybe the new .338 federal

The mexican mauser, without "ruining" what it is, is limited to 3.15 cases. Yes, the 350 rem would fit, but there are FAR better choices. I have (or have had) mexican mausers in the following 257 roberts 708 rem 308 win 358 win 376 steyr 458winmag (no kidding, but limited to rem 405s and cast bullets) The 376 steyr is head and shoulders the best possible cartridge for that platform. 4 in the gun 25" barrel matches (with higher pressure than) the 375 Hh with 300 gr with 225gr, it's an excellent deer/pig load and lots of fun in any event now, you can keep the 1910 and bolt, but that advice just cost you the 36 and bolt (because I have the reamer and can get another barrel!!) jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I have a lightweight, 22" slender barreled, sweetheart in 6.5-284. This one is being restocked for my daughter. This is a wonderful combo. Doug

Since they seem to be so popular, I often wonder if there is a stash of them somewhere in Mexico that a guy could buy and import.

Not likely; the guerillas are still putting them to use! "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I guess I should have gave a little more background. I already have Mexi's in 7x57, 257 Roberts and .284 Winchester. I bought 8 guns originally 4- 1910's and 4- 1936's. Thus the smaller end is complete so i was looking for cases 338 and up. The 358 Win wouldn't be a bad idea but I have a 88 in 358 already. I'd like to hear some more opinion on the 376 Styer and the 338 Federal if anyone has them. BB

376 Steyr would be my choice, I need to build one also, or you could make it a 9.3x57

I just took my 1910 to the smiths. It will be a 8x57 mauser, #3 Lilja tube, S&K mounts a FN style safety, Timney trigger. Stock will probabley be a British Stalker, a nice working mans rifle. Nothing fancy but good, solid reliable.

I've been doing some reading on the 376. I really like the cartridge. However most everything else I have in the Mexi is much lower PSI. Will they handle the pressure alright? That was one of my concerns with the 350 Mag but I much prefer no belt option. Also I read a bit on feeding problems with the case. Anyone have an idea for a starting point in getting the case to feed properly in the Mex? Last while I have a 375 douglas barrel on hand the guy I usually deal with doesn't have the reamer for this. Anyone have recomendations for someone tooled up to barrel, chamber, headspace and work on feeding? BB
