No, the action/guard screw spacing is not the same. Center to center on a large ring 98 is 7 7/8". On the Siam it's 7 5/8."

That's the same screw spacing as an intermediate length action, but the Siamese bottom metal is Designed for a rimmed cartridge, it has a tapered floor plate, and some other features unlike other Mausers.

the siamese mauser looks nothing like a 98, TC... it's a slant box, deeper in the back, and even a totally different release....

it's pretty neat looking, I saw tigger tate's rigby slant box (very much alike in design) and put it next to a siamese.... WOW could they get interestingly shaped rounds to feed

I'm wanting a 45-70, haven't done a damn thing about committing to which one- there's a mauser barreled action I was considering, along with everything else I consider Big Grin

I wish I could luck into one of those quickie conversions century arms (?) sold years ago.

thanks for all the responses.
