Either action would make a great sporter. I'd use the Peruvian just cause I like the high rear bridge feature. Stop fretting over the pitting on the front ring. Polish the front ring as well as can be done,,remove the Crest and square it up. Any remaining pitting from that patch can be gone by matting the top of the front ring as many Mauser sporters were done up. Or a scope mount base made with bigger footprint as they say now to cover up more of the top including any left over pitting. The base can be nicely shaped w/ a scalloped or beveled edge to trim it up so it doesn't have the large block look. Or sell it to me (seriously) and I'll gladly make a rifle out of it and you can concentrate on that nice G.33-40! | |||
