dead?..you mean "dead" like the 220 Swift was a few years back?,..or the 350 Rem Mag was, or the 6mm Rem..or the 264 Winchester?...or the 358 Win..that kind of "dead"?....there will always be brass avaliable after a cartridge makes the "obsolete" or "dead" list.
you could rechamber it if you really want to...the WSM will clean up the SAUM chamber without setting back. But while the barrel is off you should have the receiver trued up anyway and then you'll have to take it back a thread,...IF you want the factory stamping in the proper place.

Dedicated handloaders can almost always find a way to get the job done, but the box a year man likes to be able to feed his deer gun off the shelf. An enterprising smith might generate some revenue offering such a conversion to those who come to realize they chose the wrong horse.
