Why not just buy a .300RUM and save yourself a lot of time, expense, and likely frustration?

I did this on a FN Mauser action.

It was not expensive (I had other work done...new trigger, new swing safety, etc that WAS expensive).

The feed rails have to be opened.
The bolt face is opened up.
That was all I needed to do make it function smoothly.

That was back when Dakota would do a rechambering for you for about $50.
(They won't do it at all now).

It's a good cartridge. I enjoy it.

How about a 30 Gibbs.....nothing other than chamber alteration needed....about 75.00

It would be easier w/ a .300wm. The bolt face is almost the same & it is really only setting back the bbl. & rechambering, maybe a bit of rail work to feed, but I'll bet not.
