Can anyone recommend a way to duplicate the dark matte grey finish Ruger puts on it's stainless target rifles and the new Ruger .480 pistol?

Some sort of combination of alox and glass beads...?

I would first bead blast then go over with a fine stainless wire wheel. Possibly charge wheel with JB. Regards, Bill.

Bead blast and then blue. I have had a couple stainless barrels finished that way and they come out pretty much like the Ruger. The stainless "blues" in proportion to the carbon steel in the stainless matrix (or so I am told). Anyway, when you blue stainless, you get a gray finish. If you bead blast first, then you get a gray matte---very much like the Ruger.
