DeBeeDuplicating Ruger's Matte Stainless Finish
Can anyone recommend a way to duplicate the dark matte grey finish Ruger puts on it's stainless target rifles and the new Ruger .480 pistol?
Some sort of combination of alox and glass beads...?

Bill LeeperI would first bead blast then go over with a fine stainless wire wheel. Possibly charge wheel with JB. Regards, Bill.

<Jordan>Bead blast and then blue. I have had a couple stainless barrels finished that way and they come out pretty much like the Ruger. The stainless "blues" in proportion to the carbon steel in the stainless matrix (or so I am told). Anyway, when you blue stainless, you get a gray finish. If you bead blast first, then you get a gray matte---very much like the Ruger.
