After several months of trying I finally asked Brownells to return my 1909 Argie bolt because in three runs of 3-pos safeties from dakota none have fit the bolt. Has anyone else had trouble with Dakota safeties (3-pos M-70 type) for the '98 Mauser? I installed one on a VZ-24 after extensive modification and grinding on the bolt but refused to do it to the Argie bolt!!! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." They all half to be fitted, no drop in. I had Jim Wisner install on for me on a 98. It works just fine. Sent him the action with the trigger I am going to use. The fireing pin requires modification.

FItting a 3 position safety to a bolt ranges from a lot of work to a hell of a lot of work. This is normal. Sometimes it is only a pain in the ass, and soemtimes it REALLY sucks. I am a little confused by your post-did you send the bolt to Brownells for them to fit the safety? How long ago did you do this? The Dakota safeties have been out of stock for many months now.

HUH?! want to sell the safety? (if you haven't modified it of course)... very very slight bevel., notch the firing pin.. file, mill, heck, even a dremel, and it goes right in. never had any trouble with them, except i thought it should be 50% less than what it sells for jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? There's no question that such parts need to be carefully fitted and adjusted by a professional riflesmith. AD

As I've said...I've fitted them to the other mausers and it took some futsing over and above the required machining....that works fine....it's when the safety don't screw on to the bold body in the first place that I was objecting to.....and Brownell's agreed that the safetys are defective..... I asked them to return it to me (the 1909 bolt body) and I'll just do something else with it.....the darn things are great when they work....love em!! Actually I think I'm gonna quit screwing with Mausers actions.....I can get M-70 actions for $250 and that's IMO better than a mauser! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
