Ive been pondering a project that would rechamber a Bakial SxS 45-70 to 45-120. Im not looking for magnum power, more just because the 45-120 just begs to be run in a Double Rifle. Ive big name DRs; but there are times when I don't want to take them out in the rain. That's when the Bakials rule. They are the AK of the DR world. Any suggestions about the re-chamber job? My only suggestion would be not to do it unless you want to use black powder; nothing at all to be gained by using a 3.25 inch case when you can't use all the powder capacity. Not because the rifle can't take it, but because your shoulder can't. So, if you really want to do it, certainly you can. I am sure you know that brass is far more expensive and what about all that extra case air space? I might be more sympathetic if you had said 45-90 (2.4 inch case). | |||

i have mine back.. and in a 45/70, it is plenty snappy .. DO NOT ruin your rifle, for zero gain.. 45/120 nitro loads are way over pressure for this TINY rifle... btw, the brass isn't really all that much more.. norma brass is reasonable. the winchester 350gr silverbox is a great combo for this gun. and this from the guy with a handirifle in 45/120,and NOT the buffalo version opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
