Mark X speed lock
Any of you guys install speed locks in Mausers to quicken the lock time or is it not worth the bother. thanks

Not worth it and it makes the bolt hard to open for no real gain. You have too much iron in the system to move.

I recommend just installing a Timney trigger, perhaps a mod. 70 3 pos. safety and go hunt..

Just not much if any improvement with the speed lock, and certainly never changed my guns ability to group or anything else...I tried a couple some years ago....

I once shortened the striker travel on a FN single shot and installed a titanium pin and heavy spring. The rifle shot just as well after the mods as it did before so at least, I didn't hurt it any. Regards, Bill.
