Not trying to be a smart ass but who makes the chocolate ice cream? Lots of different answers and most likely none wrong. KDF started it and would still have to be considered damn good.
I have a Kleingunther on my 8mm Mag and it recoils less than my BLR .308 I never take it off even while hunting. By the way I hail from Two Harbors (long time ago) how's things on the North Shore?

If you mean muzzle brake.....George Vais does. Very effective and a very slight increase in noise levels. AND no back blast into your face...stay away from the brakes that have a lot of little holes.

I think the KDF type are the most efficient. As far as the noise level is concerned I have come to the conclusion that the higher pressure & velocity the louder the report.

I assume you're talking rifles. I haven't shot one personally, but I have heard a lot of good things about brakes from Ahlman's in Fairmont MN. Here's a link
I have to chime in here. I did quite a bit of research because of a sentimental 300 WM that kicked a whole lot more than it did 25 years ago. A man in Salt Lake City named Ed Lamborn made and installed a muzzle brake. It now kicks less than my 25-06 and there is little noise change. I was concerned about keeping the front site on the rifle. He did a very good job of machining just enough off the barrel to allow the muzzle brake and the site is still there. Sounds like an advertisment, but I am very happy with the job. If you need to contact him, email me and I will supply his phone number.
