Possible defect in new Tikka

Hey guys,

I purchased a new Tikka T3 Lite stainless in 6.5x55 a few days ago.
When I got home and inspected it, I noticed some nicks/gouges inside the chamber as seen in the first pic.
The brass is also scratching the brass lengthways as shown in the second pic.
I havent fired it yet, although it seems to cycle and chamber factory ammo and reloads fine.
Any opinion if this is normal for a new rifle or should I be seeking a replacement/repair?

That is not normal. I would try for a replacement at the place of purchase.

No Sir that is not normal. Those dings at the back of the chamber are causing the scratches in the brass as I am sure you suspected. I must also compliment your pics as they are outstanding! I sense a degree of experience with photography. take the rifle back to dealer and show him the pics. Best Regards, RandyB.

Have him send it back to the factory and have them clean up the chamber. I recently had to do that with a .300 WM. Not only was the chamber tight, it scratched the brass as well. When I got it back, it works just fine.

That look like "greetings from the proof house".
Many guns get ruined by hard gages.

If the scratches on the side of the case were caused by the nicks on the chamber mouth, how is it that the scratches extend all the way down the case, over the extractor groove, and across the rim? Not saying that the nicks should be there, but I really doubt that they are what is scratching your case.

Does it look like the bolt is causing those nicks??

I agree, send it back to be corrected.
