I posted this at the 'Shotgunning' section - no answer so thought I would try here.
I just bought another "Windchanger" 1897 and find it is a bit different than the other two I have and the ones I recall. This one has two buttons (?) sticking through the sides of the receiver that are part of the shell stops - push the buttons and the shells come out of the magazine tube - smartly!
Anyone know how many of the 97's had this feature and what years it was on the guns?
I think it is a good feature but sure don't recall having seen it before. Is my memory gone or what?

Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!

Are we speaking of the same thing here? All three of mine have the 'stops' but only the one has the outside buttons to relase the shells from the magazine, the others do not? And the diagram that I have does not show the outside buttons for the '97.
Checked out another schematic found on line and it does show the buttons but does not list separate nbrs for the stops. Wonder when the change and what the sequence was for having them or not.

Spot on - exactly what I have. The other two do not have the buttons, are take-down models, etc. And that is the same diagram I found so my bad. Confused Live and learn, what?
Thnks for the info and clarification.
