I read somewhere on this forum about someone doing stock duplicating in a machine. Can anybody steer me in the right direction? I'm building my first big bore rifle and would like to try my hand at finishing a walnut stock. bewildered

I'm so tickled to have a band of Bubba's to give direction. thumb

With Mikes pricing my big bore stock is attainable. Finishing will be a great joy when it finally gets here. I sure do appreciate all the help. clap

Just remember, there is two parts to the gunstock duplicating process. First, the duplicator, and second, him (or her I guess) having the exact shape stock that you want duplicated.

If you have a really really nice piece of wood and you want something nobody else has, it might be better to first get a real junky piece of wood, have it duplicated, inlet it using your metalwork, glass that metalwork in, reshape to your satisfaction using bondo, etc., and then have it reduplicated.

I can't remember what it took on the one I had him do this past spring but it was done in the time line he said it would be. It wasn't a real long time, I'd guess six weeks or so. It will of course depend on how busy they are.
