A high school friend of mine has his deceased father's rifle. He isn't a shooter but wants to know more about the rifle.

The rifle is stamped D. M. Elliot & Co. and is a .270 Winchester. The reciever and some of the barrel is engraved. He hopes to find any information about this rifle and wonders if the company is still in business.

Could you post a picture? More information would help with the process also.

I will post a picture as soon as he sends me the pictures. I saw the rifle when I was in my teens, but that was 30 years ago. I can't even remember if it was a mauser action or not. I remember wondering at the time, why someone would want a rifle that was too ornate to use in the field.
