1914 bolt / 1917 action question
I have a 1917 Remington action (partially sporterized) with a shot out barrel. I want to use it for a 416 Rem Mag or larger. I have a P14 bolt. If I order a prethreaded and chambered barrel, do I order one for a P14 so the breach is non-coned? Are the threads the same on the 1914 and the 1917?

I have read the archives but could not find a definative answer to the above question.

There's an immense amount of work goes into making a P-17 shoot the .416 round so I'd just take the action and bolt to your smith and let him decide how to deal with that. I'd recommend you not order a barrel....tell your smith which barrel you want and let him do it.....

the bolt makes the difference, as the 17 is coned, the 14 aint.

send me the 14 bolt and find a 17!!!
