| Let me guess. It was submerged in a creek or pond for about a year? Looks like a water deposit in the chamber. |

| Nupe, my bet is a damp Canadian basement due to the lack of rust on the outside. They always oil the outside . . . . . . but. I pulled the tube and stuck it in the lathe. Stainless steel wire brush and #320 wet & dry and kerosene and it's good as new.
When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years! Rod Henrickson

| I was going to say to pull the barrel and use steel wool, 320 paper, and WD40 but you beat me to it. |

| Looks like a Savage, Rod. So it doesn't really matter. If it wants fixing and if the bore is ok, set it back and rechamber. But you know that. Regards, Bill. |

If memory serves Billy, some old feller once told me that Savages were OK, except for the accuracy problems brought on by the bag factor. I dis-remember which, wise ole fawker told me that. Memory is the first thing to go, dontchaknows!
