Well and excellent day was had by all, lots of pics here so hope you have a high speed connections.
The Finished stock with Texas style alligator checkering.

OK, maybe it needs a swipe with a little sandpaper.

A bunch of the bubba's watching Jeffeoso work. He did all the sweating and we talked guns and drooled over a few of them.

A really fine Mannlicher stocked 7x57, if only you could see the detail int he wood and metal work.

A fine hand made falling block action, these are for sale but I did not get the contact info.

The ?Lindners? brought along a couple of actions they have color case hardened, I've got the contact info but won't share it until after I get my 1/2 action Martini to them to re-color.

Bet you never saw a Remington 700 that looked like that. The pics do not look nearly as good as the actions in real life, difficulty with the lighting.

A nice little Dakota single shot, excellent workmanship on this one.

Jeffeoso himself, sweating while the rest of us drink beer and talk guns.

Thanks to Jeffe and his amazingly understanding wife Jenna for having the Band of Bubbas over.

Thanks to all for a wonderful visit.
Jeff was a most gracious host. It was great to see Browningguy, Hogkiller, forrest again.

Got to meet lots of new folks, like ForrestB.

The beans and dirty rice were awesome. The stock making was quite a deal!

Once again it was a real treat to meet a great bunch of AR guys!

It was a fun time and a pleasure to meet so many new folks from AR.

Here's the full band.

Les Brooks had one of the neatest items at the event. A handmade reloading kit that fits into this little wooden box the size of VHS tape.

If my wife ever finds out I can shrink my reloading room into this, then I'm in serious trouble.

Many thanks to Jeff and Jana

Next time we do this I'm gonna insist everyone wear nametags with their real name AND their AR name. My middle aged, ADD short term memory "blows"! Confused
One comment about that exquisite Model 10 Dakota. It's a custom and NOT put together by Dakota. I can't imagine what the wood upgrade charge would have been for that blank!

I had a blast, met some more nice AR guys..............got to hang out with a great bunch of guys.

I'm the handsome one with the sunglasses.

Keith's dirty rice is to die for..........no kidding, he needs to sell the stuff, he could get rich............Keith, lets be partners and sell dirty rice...........keiths custom ear plugs rock to...........I can't hear a word you guys are saying.

The stock machine was quite an impressive machine, Jeffe can make it sing pretty good.

Les Brooks is in a league of his own, I've never met anyone with that kind of talent and has to be one of the nicest guys I've met.

The guns some of the guys laid out was to die fore also, I brought one of mine..........I wrapped it around a pine tree and pitched it in the brush after seeing Forrests guns.

I really had a good time myself, at Woodstock '05. It was a great bunch of fellows from AR at Jeffe and Jana's. I will add my thanks to them for letting us hang out there today.

Here's some quick updpates on who's what...

the incredible side lever singleshot is by Tom, AR's huntingcat .. gentlemen, these are a sight to behold

the falling block case coloring was done by Larry Lindstrom, in Crosby, Tx.,.. Ya'll don't go booking him up for years.. because, well, jeffe's projects having a standing placeholder there!!! He's also been one of the kindest, most patient fellas around, and like a a favorite uncle or a really cool dad to me.

Jack Smith, Cherokee Rifles, in Crosby as well, did the remington case colouring.. Jack does octagon barrels for a VERY reasonable price.. full, 1/2 octagon, ribs to whatever you want, and it will be perfect.

Les Brooks was as wonderful a gentleman and full of mind blowing skill.. the reloading kit alone is what the british would call "an accomplishment" .. that doesn't mean he got the job done.. it means that it would have been a carreer high water mark.. and Les just made it so he could travel... It's a full reloading kit about the exact size and shape of "red storm rising" or "clear and present danger" .. I nearly had to run the wife in the house when Les said "this (hold a book sized piece of exhibition walnut) is an entire reloading kit, and everything you need to reload" ...

See, the studio above my shop is about 20% my reloading and leatherwork area.. and Jana has the rest for her art studio... when she said "honey, you could make that".. well, my blood ran cold (-er than it normally is)

If anyone got "thousand yard" stared at by me, when I was running the beaver, sorry... i get a little focused on it.

thanks for coming

jeffe

You know next weekend you can come to my place in Kalifornia...

Cept no beer and you can brings guns but were are gonna have to do a ten day waiting period...

Ain't got no electric beaver but we can go wine tasting and then look at flowers at the nursery celebratin its 99th year.

After that we can go on a nature hike and look at wild flowers on Mt. Diablo (unless they change the name like they are petitioning for...they say its to "agressive").

Anyway let me know how many are coming so I can get enough tofu

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Nature walk at Mt Diablo...

aint that the preserve that has the cougars attacking joggers and where that lady got speared by a buck (seems he thought SHE as in heat.. then when he got close, the flannel fooled him into thinking she was a hunter)...

if that's the place, i need to make a donation to the nike-wearing bunnie lovers.... a "cougar repellant".. smells like rabbit blood, just so the cougars would know "it's not tofu"

Jesus, Mike, the chippies would have me targetted and on radar about the time i passed through vegas...

of course I drive a car with a v8 chevy.. so i would be deported at the first smog station....

The Model 10 belongs to ForrestB and I should let him give you the details. Take it from me, though, it is flawless beyond description.
Ray - The petite little fullstock is ForrestB's also. It's a G33-40 in 7x57 with all kinds of integral barrel features. Y'all need to make Forrest post some pictures of both of these beauties.
