Don't believe so. This is what needs to be done to turn a MKII into a 375H&H I would think the older version might be close. http://www.riflemagazine.com/m...?tocid=1186&magid=84 As usual just my $.02 Paul K

I agree with Jeffe. Assuming the M77 was chambered for the 375H&H or other long magnum and assuming you could find a long replacement magazing box. You would have the cost of the box, new barrel installation Sights? and you end up with a tang saftey M77 which is push feed. Unless he is married to the Tang Safety I would think he would be money ahead to seel the M77 take that $$ and the $$$$$$ he saved and buy a used Whitworth if he is wanting a lighter set up. Or if weight is not an issue look to a new CZ. If he can get buy with a 375Ruger go new M77 MkII As usual just my $.02 Paul K

The M77 tang safety rifle has very little space between the magazine box and the trigger assembly. The MKII has a shorter trigger assembly so has more space to lengthen the magazine box rearward. Bruce

As I said assuming they made a long magnum M77. Looking at my "Bolt Action Rifles" it lists no long magnum in a M77. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

The tang safety Ruger 77 is a good action. The location of the safety is far superior to most side-mount safeties. Assuming that your friend's rifle has had an appropriate trigger job, there's a good case to be made for using this action over others. If he is "married" to this particular action, then the .375 Ruger is his best option as the H&H version is far too long for the magazine space available. The .375 Ruger will be crowded, limiting bullet seating options, but it will be adequate. I won't get into arguing about PF vs. CRF as this is like arguing religion, not mechanics. Suffice it to say that there are as many ways to screw up the operation of one as the other; and that either is, on average, as dependable as the other. It's your friend's rifle and he should build it the way he chooses.
