Can I ream a Runger p9 carbine barrel out to 357 Sig and drop it into a P4 carbine using the p4 bolt assembly and other 40 cal parts?

Not sure what you mean by "throw". The cases and the COLs are pretty much the same so the bolt travel is OK. When you drop a 357 SIG bbl into a 40 pistol the springs are unchanged.

I think you would be OK with it, the conversion has worked on several pistols I have did, I have always upgraded the springs on them though.

I asked the question at the Ruger forum a long time ago and there were people who cried "NO!" and claimed stuff like the recoil "impulse" was different and such. I think you might have to work with the recoil springs to get things just right, but that would be if it were a pure blowback action....
