I have a Colt AR-15 that I use for coyote calling.
The stainls barrel is very shiney.
How can i put a matt finish on that barrel?
I do not have a bead blaster.

Well, mechanically, you could get some 220 grit abrasive cloth and "shoe-shine" the barrel or use an abrasive wire brush. Or you could just spray coat it with a proper paint:

The advantage to the paint is it can be easily removed and the original finish restored.

Cheap, fast and not permanent would be a little camo tape. Any tape residue can be removed with a little mineral spirits.

Another thing you could do is get some flat black BBQ paint and give it a coat.

Is there a body shop in your area that can sand blast the bbl only? That would get rid of the shine.

find a shop that has a blast cabinet and use glass beads to get a mate grey finish on the stainless barrel or do like i did at first and get a spot blasting gun from harbour freight and a bucket of glass beads and do it your self you only get one time use out of the beads but they are fairly inexpensive and one bucket goes a long way after awhile with this type of finish you get shiny spots on the barrel from rubbing or contact but you can always just touch it backup with spot blaster.
hope this helps
