Congratulation MHC!

The .300 H&H is still the finest of all the 30cals...and your piece of customrifle here has made a great contribution to keeping this cartridge alive for many forummembers in the years to come. Thank you for sharing. patriot

Most of the gun pictures are at the top of page one. There are some photo's of the sights/engraving in the white. If you want something different let me know and I will try to take them. I didn't want a lot of engraving - I'm not into that (wanted a working gun).

Trax,

I don't know what it weighs...never weighed it and we don't even have any bathroom scales. I do have two different scopes for it. A Swarovski 2.5-10x Z6 (shown in the deer photo) and a Leupold 3.5-10x VariX-111. The Swarovski is a "big" scope by my standards. The Leupold makes for a much more light weight package.

The gun has good balance and has the Fisher round bottom metal made by Blackburn, so it fits and carries real well in one hand. Barrel length = 25".

I have only seen the Fisher bottom metal offered for 30-06 size cases. Did Duane modify a 30-06 unit, or was the bottom metal made for the long magnum?

The Fisher bottom metal (round profile) I have is magnum length. I actually have two of them and am using the other piece on a 375H&H that Duane is also building.

I don't know all the history on them, but I think I remember getting one of them directly from Jerry Fisher (through Duane).

Wow. I knew that Fisher was planning to produce some in magnum sizes, but I did not know that he got around to it.

Very slick!

the deer came from a ranch south of Bracketville, Texas

the wood came from Luxus

Thing I commonly discovered about this world is that, the best wood, wine, women & jewellry are often kept out of common sight, simple reason being one learns its best not to attract too many unappreciative tire kickers...
Thats why when I go to the Mercedes dealer I ignore the showroom floor and go straight to the dealer principle and say;, "Id like to see the Black Ops Merc. youve got hidden outback behind all the cardboard boxes...rotflmo

...Im sure blank#1949 comes from the Garden of Eden itself... Big Grin

Mike is on top of this stuff...I think the blank showed up for about 3 minutes...he bought it before anyone knew what was going on!

This blank is about as close as you can get to the epitome of rifle blanks...I was almost burglarized! but that would have led to a false police report!

Well you asked - glad you like them.

As far as plans for each blank - this is how I currently have them paired up.

#1949 - 416 Rigby on a GMA action w/ a Ralf Martini barrel

#1877 - 270 Winchester on a Brno 21 action w/ Ralf Martini full length rib octagon to round barrel (just like the one ForrestB built - he is my mentor). My barrel has a progressive twist rate.

#1808 - 375 H&H mauser action (Chilean) & Fisher round bottom metal

#1751 - .223 Remington on mini-mauser action

#1012 - 450 Rigby on Satterlee action

None of these are set in stone, I may still mix and match. Would love to hear your comments on how you would pair these blanks to what I'm building. I still need to run all this by Duane and get his input/blessing.

The 300 H&H is built on a Chilean action.

Adam and Clay at Luxus are 1st class, they are honest, they stand behind their product, they are hunters and they are into building custom guns for their personal use. I told Adam what I was looking for and he sent me some different photo's of blanks to consider. You are right, the blank for the 300 H&H project never made it on the website. Three years ago I didn't know squat about building a custom rifle....but I do know what I like.......everything I know came through interacting with people on this forum. I would like to publicly thank ForrestB and Duane Wiebe as they have had a big influence on me.

After these are built, I keep saying I'm done.......but this is kind of addictive!

garden of Eden for sure. I wonder of those guys at luxus have permits for cutting trees in eden!

Looking forward to seeing that 1949 turned.
that 375 on 1808 sounds like it might be the perfect all around rifle.
i had a hofman 375 years ago and i wish i would have not sold it.
i still think about having something like that built.

MHC, i would not stop having guns built if i were you, but you might pace yourself!
it is a pleasure and thrill having guns built. why stop doing that? thats why we work in life, the pursuit of happiness!

Mike,

You owe me at least two keyboards from all the drool shorting them out. Really a lovely rifle and a fabulous selection of blanks.

MHC - Thanks for the link, beautiful rifle to be sure. As far as my project goes I'm down to deciding cal. & barrel style etc., leaning towards a 6.5 x 57. Just a ? for you, what are you doing with the remains of the 21H donor, are they for sale? Thanks again --- John 303.

I sold the barrel, stock, trigger guard and floor plate. My Brno 21H was orginally a 8x57.

Would you consider adopting a middle-aged university professor?
