I am looking at having one of the custom shops, probably Leupold's, rework a scope to my specifications. Have any of you had Leupold's Custom Shop modify a scope for you? I am looking at having a 6x with German #4 and BDC dial calibrated to my favorite Lapua loads.

Premier Reticle only works on Schmidt & Bender scopes now. When Leupold's Custom SHop got up and running, they put PR out of busienss.

It is really a shame, Premier was a great company, while anything Leupold does in their shop will need to be examined closely, as there is a far greater chance you will have to send the scope back so they can have another stab at getting it right. With Premier, you could count on it being right. Not saying they never made a mistake, but they made a hell of a lot less mistakes than Leupold.

So to directly answer your question, I have had Leupold modify scopes for me in the past. The job they did was the reason I went looking for another company and found Premier Reticle. But now we are stuck with the Leupold Custom Shop, so the point is moot anyway.

So far Leupold Custom shopp has changed parallex for a rimfore scope from 100 to 37yards. They changed two reticles. I have never had to send one for service, but the three I know that went back were the owners fault, they were fixed quick and free.

I used Premier reticles one two occaisions, very nice to deal with, but I see no difference.

If you do have a problem with a Leupold scope, they will make it right. I doubt a reticle change is a real big deal. Mine are going strong for two years.

Leupold's Custom Shop has done several Parallax changes, three reticle changes, one target turret installation, and one repair for me. All scopes were done perfectly, and were back at my house two weeks from the day I sent them.
I can recommend them.

Premier Reticles is a GREAT company. The bums at Leupold won't provide parts to them any more. One more reason I now buy Zeiss scopes.

I have had several reticle changes by Leupold without a problem. Turn around time is about two weeks. Same story with paralax adjustment. I have had two 6x36 scopes converted for rimfire use. Again no problems!

Go ahead and have them do it for you. They usually eventually get it right. I have one scope that went back multiple times and to this day is not right. It sits on a .22 I never use. The others they got right by the second attempt.

If you want something nonstandard, the you are pretty much cornered into using Leupold's Custom Shop, so just do it. I would advise making several copies of the shipping label when you send it in. The extras will keep you from ahving to turn on the printer when you send the scope back the second time. rotflmo

There is a guy named Walley Seibert who lives in Issaquah, Wa. that is certified to work on Leupold scopes without voiding the warranty. Walley can change the reticle and boost the power. Not sure about doing calibration work.
