Just wanted to let you fellas know that we now have online shopping available, so that you can use your Visa or MasterCard to order directly from our website.

We've also eliminated dealer pricing on all of our accessories and lowered the prices down to prices nearly to a distributor level. Not only have we made it more convenient than ever to get the parts you need, but your out-of-pocket expenses have lowered as well.

Here's a direct link to our store, which can also be found on the homepage of our website.

Williams Firearms Online Catalog

Keep an eye out for our new page that will be appearing on our main website titled "Gunsmiths' Corner". This page will outline frequently asked questions regarding our parts, as well as tips and tricks to aid in the installation process and a list of part weights for all of our trigger guards and one-piece bottom metal assemblies for those guys looking to shave weight on their rifles, without compromising strength.

We'll also periodically be running specials that will include trigger guards, extractors, and One-Piece Assemblies, so be sure to keep an eye for those as well.

Any comments or suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Any truth to the rumor that you will produce a Model 70 version bottom metal in TITANIUM? If so, when will it become available?

We'll be working on that soon.......hasn't been that big of a problem thus far, but apparently it's worth having the option on, as i'm finding out.

There is definitely some truth to the rumor....However, the specifics I can't give out just yet. We are waiting on our forging vendor for a formal quote on our new one-piece assembly that will allow us to make an Oberndorf-style release system that is drafted on the sides for easier inletting, as well as true drop-in capability for the Remington model 700's in both the short and long-action models.

You as a customer will finally be able to have bottom metal with all the custom features you'd expect, for a price that's less than half the competition. That's good news for everyone in my book.
This new bottom metal, unlike our current version, as well as Sunny Hill's bottom metal, will be made of one solid piece, rather than a joint that has been either mechanically attached or welded from two seperate pieces.
While our current method provides more than ample strength for it's intended purpose, we've set out to make the best we can for a price that the average consumer can afford, without having to pay more than the rifle costs brand new.
The sides on these new guards will also have a profiled classic design that is associated with the Oberndorf-style bottom metal. They'll be offered in stainless, steel, and from what we've heard from our forging vendor, titanium as well.

You'll find that these new one-piece assemblies will be the easiest to bring to final finish, as well as taking any of the headaches out of inletting. We're not making short-cuts to bring down costs......We're making improvements in our processes to bring the highest quality product to market for less money. Keep an eye on our website to see how this develops and if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

We are finalizing our processes right now for getting our prototype actions ready for shot show 2006. Our intentions will be to have a short action for the WSM cartridges, as well as the 308 class rounds, plus a long-acton, capable of handling everything from 30-06 to 375H&H.

The big bore action that you are speaking of will be probably next in line and we'll be looking somewhere towards the middle to end of next summer, depending on the workload that we get from the short and long-action models.
The further we get into this, the better of an idea we'll be able to provide as to timeframes, prices, and availability.
Lot's of info is yet to come on our website regarding these actions that should answer nearly everyones questions. Please be patient while we continue to develop these new products.

Matt,

Do you have any plans of producing Mauser 98 bottom metal?

I bought some extractors earlier this year. They work very well. I will pick up a couple of the new model 700 bottom assemblies when they come out. Life is good in this country. Thanks for jumping into this market, Matt.

We can manufacture a 98 Mauser bottom metal from this forging, but we'll not be able to incorporate a solid magazine box into the scenario.
I believe that will a little gunsmithing and robbing a mag box from an original, we should be able to make it work....Otherwise, we make end up getting someone to make a box for us that can be permanently attached to the bottom metal.....
It's on the backburner for now, but we do have plans for it.

I'm thinking we'll be around $150.00 plus or minus.....but not too far one way or the other.

I can weld up my own box, no issue there. All I really need/want is bottom metal and spring/follower of the proper dimensions for belted mag cases.

That's a very reasonable price, but I understand putting it on the back burner with a potentially limited market for the ever decreasing number of mausers out there.

Those one piece assemblies for Model 70s look great! But I am betting that a lot of folks would like them even better if the floorplate was a straddle floorplate. I mean, if one is going to go custom, then one might as well go custom with the straddle floorplate.

Our new models from a forging will have a straddle floorplate, but our product from it's inception was designed for Winchester. We created the part for them in the beginning and after making a few thousand, decided that the general public could benefit from having this class of bottom metal that wouldn't break the bank.
Our new line of bottom metal is for the aftermarket crowd of gunsmiths and custom gunmakers. We're pulling out all the stops for this upcoming line of assemblies, except for our low prices. Wink

Triggerguard 1,

on the subject of Titanium, any word of you making an M70 style reciever from this material? Would make a great option for a 257R mountain rifle.
Harre was offering them before they went bust,Titanium reciever with integral rings, bottom metal, claw, follower, shroud, all titanium.
At SCI this year, I spoke with Winchester, and they didnt deny the idea that they may have something in the pipeline.

I know it would be close, but I couldn't say for sure......

I haven't had enough experience with those to give you a definitive answer on that one...Perhaps someone else on this board could tell you how close the two actions are to one another.

rembo,

I think that you will find the screw spacing for the Pre 64 M70 bottom metal is about 3/16 inch shorter than the Kimber BGR89.
