Many years ago I worked in a gun shop in Fayetteville, NC. We had "pure liquid silicone" in small bottles there. I would mix it with mineral oil 1:3 to saturate cloth with for gun rags. Now, 22 years later I am about out and can't find the silicone any longer.

The bottles were from Brownells but I can't find it in their catalog or website.

Does anyone know where to find it or a substitute for it?

Thanks

Try AG Russell Knives, Springdale,Ar.
he sells a product called "Rust Free", which is a very thick silicone product for preventing rust and staining on high carbon tool steel.

Y&ou can just buy silicone cloth at any sporting goods store. Hoppes and Birchwood Casey both make them. Or if you still want to make your own, you can buy silicone spray at Grainger. They even have a silicone gel if you want to try that.
