CZ 550 vs. Daley/Rem/Zastava vs. Interarms Mark X. Which is the best action and factory barrel? Matt FISH!! Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984: "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

no relationship... the new rem is fair to partly bad.. the old mark X was superior to the CD, and the CZ 550 medium and magnum are NOT mausers, but are superior to the current new models of remington jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I don't care that the CZ 550 isn't a true Mauser, so I call it a modified or improved Mauser. Anyway, it's close enough that a comparison is relevant. I never cared that the Ruger isn't a true Mauser either, but it too is probably close enough for comparison. The more I study and use my CZ 550s, the better I like them. Sometimes - just sometimes - I like them better than my Mausers, however I suspect that with a little more time, I'll actually like the CZs better. The issues I have with the Mark X / Daly / Rem 798 are that I don't like the trigger and safety set up, so I always want to replace them. The trigger isn't even good enough to rework and get satisfactory for me. Then with the newer versions, the side push floor plate release isn't as nice. But with the CZ550, and the Ruger, my gunsmith has been able to work on the trigger and get either of them to my satisfaction. The CZ trigger turns out really nice with a little tweeking and adjusting, and the set feature is interesting. I like the factory bottom metal on either the Ruger or the CZ. I also like the integral scope base on the CZ or the Ruger. But - I remember a new-in-box Mark X 7x57 barreled action that I let get away, and wish I had kept it. I can't speak fairly to the CZ. I have old MKXs, late Model MKXs, Dalys and have played with the 798. Without question I would pick up an early MKX before the others. I think the fit and finish was better. I prefer the plate release far better than the later model cross pin. That said I have NRVER had a MKX or Daly barreled action that wouldn't shoot MOA. Just took my 308 Norma to the range it is a rechambered 06 Daly. Tried 6 loads 2 were MOA 1 was .75 MOA worst was 1.75". MY wifes 7x57 was a Daly barreled action. Shoot 5 as quick as she can it will put the first 3 in .5MOA then the real light barrel will heat up and open up to a 1.5" 5 shoot group. She won't let me rebarrel it says if she needs to fire more than 3 she has other problems. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
