Every year the American Custom Gunmaker Guild has a rifle that is the culmination of approximately five years of effort on the part of the team that was chosen to assemble it. I was privileged to be a part of the team this year as the stockmaker. If you would like more information about it or would like to buy a raffle ticket for the rifle, click one of the links below. The rifle this year is a .404 Jeffrey on a FN Commercial Mauser Action. It is in a fitted case covered in Cape Buffalo hide. A Damascus steel knife with elephant ivory scales is fitted into the case along with the ebony turn screws (screw drivers).

The tickets are $20 and at present there are only about 900 sold out of a maximum of 4000. It is unlikely that the total sales will come close to the max this year so it the odds are good for someone getting this gem.

Chic

There are probably quite a few members of this forum who are not aware of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild show in Reno next month where the gun will be displayed and the winning ticket be drawn. How about putting in a good word for the show, explain what it's all about.

I'm thinking of attending myself if I can get a good price on a plane ticket.I've been following the work of a lot of guild members for years with back issues of the Gunmaker and some of the videos.

I have some questions about the show, the seminar on monday, what subjects will be covered? Who will do the presentations? What time do you think it will be over?

Perhaps many here at Accuratereloading don't know Chic created the above stock. Well, "created" might be too strong... I suppose God did that! However, he fashioned the raw material into that gorgeous finished handle. Chic is a modest guy who doesn't "ring his own bell" so I thought I'd ring it for him.

Thanks for the nice words Brad. Good point Craftsman. I should have included that in the original post, but then this way, I get to drag it up to the top again.

The show is the annual Firearm engravers and gunmakers exhibition and it is held each year in Reno Nevada. This year it will be held on February 8, 9, and 10th. The two associations each have their annual meeting together and put on this show. It will be held in the ball room (lower level) of the Silver Legacy Casino. The admission is $20 per day and most people who attend will go each day. If you wish to join the American Custom Gunmakers Guild as an associate it will cost you the same as 3 days entry and you will recieve the 4 times a year periodical, The Gunmaker. It will also get you into the shows a bit earlier than the rest of the guests.

The show times will be Friday from 12PM to 6PM, Saturday from 12PM to 5 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM.

The drawing for the rifle will be held at around 3:30 PM on Sunday.

This show is incredible and very addictive. If you are interested in attending, the Silver Legacy # is 1 800 687 8733 and the group code is NCGG02. That will get you a discount to this Casino and some freebee meal tickets for each day. It is a great place to stay.

On Saturday night a banquet is held and a large number of very desirable items are raffled off.

I spend an inordinate amount of my time away from the table and salivating over the 5 or 6 tables of incredible walnut stock blanks.

I will look forward to seeing you there. I am hoping I can coerce Brad into attending one year. Next year and each year following from what I understand, SCI will be back in Reno and we will be holding our show at the same time. These two shows can change your life. Or make you wish tired of the one you have.
