After replacing original military safeties, do any of you modify your Mauser's cocking piece by drilling it to facilitate bolt disassembly?

On the Dayton Traister safties I've used, that isn't necessary. Simply close the bolt, put the safety on, remove bolt, and dissademble bolt as you normally would.

Not sure if all replacement safeties act in the same manner or not.

Just hang the cocking piece on a ledge and pull the cocking piece back far enough to slip a coin between the cocking piece and shroud.

Make sure the ledge you hang it on isn't anything of value...
