Ok, the M70 and M98 differences thread got me wondering. What are the differences between the CZ 550 and Mauser 98? I to am not trying to criticize either action. It's just that I have read the CZ has some M98 features but it's not a "true" Mauser. So, what are the differences? Allen It's a Mauser thing, you wouldn't understand.

Well speaking before morning coffee. To me the CZ is a Mauser Style action. More or less like the M70 is a mauser style. Only real thing that CZ claims that I have read is like the Mauser it is CRF. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

the brn 600, 601, 602, and cz 550s are basically mauser-like, a paul said. yes, it is not a mauser 98, but it's "in the family"... perhaps, other than trigger, it could be considered, from an engineering POV, as an intermediate step between the 98 and m70... with the 1903 somewhere mixed in there. jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I agree the CZ is both like a Mauser and a Model 70. It's trigger and safety are different as is it's firing pin assembly. I think the button to remove the bolt from the action is pure Model 70. Of course neither the Model 70 or Mauser have the dovetail atop the receiver for scope mounting.

compared to the M98 the CZ 550 has: 1. faster lock time 2. complex adjustable trigger w/ set feature 3. no guide rib on the bolt 4. M70 bolt release and ejector, left lug is not split
